Spectacular! One of the best fireworks displays we’ve ever seen. This was taken from our hotel room at the San Jose Hilton on July 4, 2008. This is the last (and best) ten minutes of a 30 minute Independence Day fireworks display held in downtown San Jose. Enjoy!

Race of Champions 2008 Sebastien Loeb has won The Race Of Champions at Wembley Stadium today. Loeb, the five times World Rally (WRC) champion, kept his composure despite fierce pressure from fellow finalist, Britains David Coulthard, to become the champion of champions. The unique, annual event pitches the worlds best motorsport stars head-to-head in equal machinery on a tight and twisty, temporary tarmac track constructed atop of Wembleys famous pitch. With a best-of-three format for the final, Frenchman Loeb took the honours in the first race to put the pressure on the newly retired F1 driver. Coulthard responded in spectacular fashion, giving the massive British crowd hope of a home victory by piloting to victory in the second heat, driving the KTM X-Bow. With the stage set for a thrilling finale, the two driving greats turned the famous football stadium into a adrenalin-fuelled amphitheatre; slipping and sliding the purpose-built ROC Cars to a nail-biting finish with Loeb taking the honours by just 0.3 seconds. Fresh from sealing his third ROC crown, Loeb said: For sure, when you are on the start line, you want to win, but with this event there is not too much pressure. Its a very tight track and you have to give everything you can. I didnt get as much experience as some of the others, as I only did one ROC Nations Cup race, but it was a good weekend for me. Pierre Huyghe. Pierre Huyghe, born 1962 in Paris, France, is a French artist who works in a variety of media from film and video to public interventions. He attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris (1982-85). Employing folly, leisure, adventure, and celebration in creating art, Huyghes films, installations, and public events range from a small town parade to a puppet theater, from a model amusement park to an expedition to Antarctica. By filming staged scenarios—such as a re-creation of the true-life bank robbery featured in the movie Dog Day Afternoon—Huyghe probes the capacity of cinema to distort and ultimately shape memory. Fashion Designer Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garcons, was born in Tokyo in 1942. Being untrained as a fashion designer, but having studied fine arts and literature, she conveys her ideas verbally to her patternmakers. After graduation Kawakubo worked in a textile company and began working as a freelance stylist in 1967. In 1973, she established her own company, Comme des Garcons Co., Ltd in Tokyo. Starting out with women’s clothes, Kawakubo added a men’s line in 1978. Two years later, she moved to Paris and presents her fashion lines there each season. At the same time she opened up her first boutique in Paris. Following her breakthrough in Paris, Comme des Garcons clothing was often subject of exhibitions around the world. Comme des Garcons specializes in anti-fashion, austere, sometimes deconstructed garments, sometimes lacking a sleeve or other component. Her garments are primarily in black, dark gray, and white, often worn with combat boots.
